Randomness

Leaving for Bombay day after tomorow. What will I be doing for the couple of days before I finally leave for Dubai? Many things. The most significant of which being- Clubbing, my dear. Clubing. Bombay is the place to party. A place where you can even get a Taxi or Auto at 4 am when the only words you have to mutter are - Powai, Hiranandani. In Delhi it would be the luckiest day of the year if you find any transport at that time. Then starts what looks like an Auction house at Christie’s.

“Vasant Kunj.”

“Baitho.”

“Kitna?”

“300 de dena”

“@!#!@#!@#!@# Kya???”

“Bhai raat ka time hai”

“@#!@ 70 !@#!@#”

“!@#!@”

“!@#”

…..

When you ultimately settle for something like 135 Rs you realise that students are going to school, DTC buses are up and the auto stand is full. You go back, haggle a bit ‘Bhaiya, ab toh din ho gaya’ lots of exclamation marks and others symbol follow and a finally new rate is agreed upon.

I hate digressing. Brevity though, was never my forté.

Dubai, here I come again. Life is gonna be all in High Definition Format on 30″ screens. It was getting boring with all that static in the All India Radio version.

Thing of the Day: R0535 4R3 R3D v10le75 4R3 81U3, 1337 P037ry 5uck5, if you don’t get this you suck too. ( Roses are red, violets are blue. Leet poetry sucks, if….)- A friend’s status message.

  2. Ps Says:

    I used to live in Hiranandani- Powai!! Never actually lived in Delhi–only stayed there a few weeks;
Currently I’m located at Pune.(the place where snap was clicked)

i HATE the autowallas in delhi, in the true sense of the word.
and niiiiiiiiiiiiiice, clubbing in bombay. who’ll you be clubbing with?

  4. Abhishek Says:

I don’t know when all of you stayed in Delhi, but the scene has changed now. The government has come to some sort of agreement and increased the rates to a level acceptable by the rickshaw drivers. Now you get to go by the meter to most places.

    Otherwise, DTC zindabaad.

Wacko, My first five years of my life I was in Calcutta. Don’t remember much, but have sure heard about it being a great place. Would like to go there again.

Tania, Going clubbing with my college friends from Dubai who live in Mumbai and hopefully other hot friends of my friends.

Abhishek, It has been quite sometime and I remember this time round when I came to Delhi for some days the Auto wallahs did agree to go by the Meter, but I was so surprised and shocked that I was happy with the bargaining process. At least I wouldn’t get conned by rigged meters and other things.

The scene I doubt has changed fully, and probably won’t in the near future too. Ask Tania and other girls how many will think about Autos at night when alone and how many would dare to think that after midnight.

I don’t have much experience with DTC, mostly because barely any buses ply regularly in the Vasant Kunj area. The few that do, have bus-stands located far-off, but still they really really pale in comparison to Bombay’s BEST (Bus services)

  6. Rungta Says:

Delhi autos, me and Nag could go on for hours about them. Its been almost an year since I’ve been there but yeah, like Aditya, I doubt the scene will ever change completely, but hey, good to know things have improved.

  7. Abhishek Says:

I never said Delhi is a safe place for girls. It’s worse than ever.

The reason Bombay’s public transport is better is because of the higher order of discipline. People here just think honking on the roads is their birth right. They fail to follow rules, pay off policemen and never get noticed.

Most people prefer to take direct buses which is never possible in Delhi. If you need to get to Vasant Kunj, there are many going from the Malai Mandir stand, probably the most.

The Metro is probably the only thing I can feel proud of in Delhi. The DMRC rocks. And a metro station is being built just 500 yards from my house.
